Do vampires need energy drinks? Well, sort of. Blood is their drink of choice, and it seems to keep them going through the worknight well into coffin time the next morning.
Those of us with boring office jobs know what the 3 o’clock slump is like - it stands to reason that vampires might have the same problem at 3am, when they need a little nibble to get them through till dawn.
Well, just in time for Halloween and the release of the new Twilight movie comes Blood Energy Potion. It claims to have both the consistency of blood, and the nutritional makeup thereof. Whatever that means. Except it tastes like fruit punch. So it’s like the annoying chicks at the party drinking wine coolers while everyone else is belting shots of tequila. “Get real blood nutrients without that real blood taste!”
Personally I think this is an excellent niche for a drink maker. Hardcore sport enthusiasts - skaters, wrestlers, bikers, night shift workers, long haul drivers and students cramming for exams turn to All-Day Energy Spray to get the burst of energy and clarity they need to work and play hard. But what about those poor goth/emo kids? They’re clearly wasting away from lethargy and ennui. It’s important for them to have an energy drink of their own. Honestly, no one looks like they need it more.
The two skateboarders with Untitled Skateboards did clear the three teachers during their performance Thursday morning, causing students to cheer and roar with applause.
And even though there is a “no skateboarding” sign prominently posted next to the school’s front door, the group was invited to not only display their tricks that get the audience’s attention, but also their message — to stay in school, pursue your dreams and know that your decisions now can change your life.
Events like the one held at Scribner Middle School are a win-win. Skateboarding is presented in front of school officials as something that doesn’t need to be feared or belittled, and that puts the kids at ease. And to have a group perform plus give kids some solid advice about staying on the right path means they’re more likely to accept it, because they admire skaters.

The big topic on everyone’s mind these days is health insurance. Buy it, keep it, replace it, government option? Every day we see a new article screaming from the headlines about health insurance. But this isn’t about partisan politics. This isn’t about legislation or Congress or anything like it.
This post is about taking care of yourself. About the responsibility you have to your own body to make sure it is always in the best shape it can be in. By caring for the body we live in, we can eliminate many of the illnesses that require all that health insurance, and are better able to handle the grand medical events in life: accidents, injuries, old age, pregnancy…
The key to caring for your body is simple. It has always been simple, but we have complicated it so much over the years that we don’t know which way to look anymore. It’s “Back to School” time - now is a good opportunity to remind you of the lessons your mama taught you when you were little that you’ve probably long since put out of your mind:
Eat right. The food pyramid is a little skewed in favor of the grain mafia, so you’re in charge of due diligence on your dietary requirements. Fruits and veggies in generous portions, lean meats, whole grains, starches in moderation.
Stay hydrated. No matter what you’re doing - either biking x-country or sitting at a computer - your body is using up its water stores. Keep replenishing. Soda, coffee, bottled fruit juices - none of these are as hydrating as water and some are even dehydrating! If water bores you, squeeze some lemon into it or something.
Sleep. Your body needs it to recharge, and your brain needs it to dump all the old files and make room for new info.
Exercise. Hit the gym for some cardio and weights, or just take a brisk walk around the neighborhood. Get that heart pumping blood and oxygen through your body.
Get regular checkups. I don’t want to hear that you don’t have the time/money to see a doctor right now. Will you have more time/money when your heart gives out or you find out you have diabetes? Quit complaining and make the appointment today.
Have fun. Laugh. Relax with friends and family, but also give yourself some alone time to listen to your own thoughts.
Jason David Frank, once known to kids of a certain age as the green Power Ranger Tommy (of Might Morphin’ Power Rangers fame) is now morphing from actor to MMA fighter.
Frank signed a contract with Suckerpunch Entertainment and hopes to fight his first match soon.
He has studied martial arts since the age of 4, and in 2003 was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame. He is now 35.
Green wasn’t the only suit Frank wore on the Power Rangers. Given the fact that their faces weren’t seen, there was a lot of swapping about of costumes. But when Frank enters the UFC ring for the first time, there will be no hiding.
Jason Frank has admitted that people will want to see the Power Ranger get his ass kicked in the octagon, but intends to bring his best game when he finally gets in there. He is currently training with Melvin Guillard.
It’s that time of the year again. The chaos of back to school has begun. More traffic on the roads, busy calendars for parents and kids alike, college students breaking their backs with heavy textbooks.
Why not take a break from the madness to remember a bit of why summer is so great? Get on your your mountain bike, go for a run, hit the waves before the water gets too cold…
And get it all on camera!
If you can tell us - on video - what the awesome All-Day ingredient Xytine™ can do to make you better/stronger/smarter/faster at your game, we want to see it.
